Fresh of the plane we climbed on the bus
The Drill Instructors yelling at us
Get out get down stand at attention
afraid, nervous and full of tension!
Finally we were called a Marine
Boot camp was the hardest thing we’d seen
We left there ready to stand and fight
Guarding our freedoms our peace our rights!
Then we were called to fight a war
To fight the enemy at our door
Many fell in those first couple days
Many followed in different ways!
Our brothers and sisters laid to rest
While others were out giving their best
Another Marine at heavens gate
In their dress blues standing tall and strait!
Soldiers sailors and airmen laid down
Giving all till that last trumpet sounds
We are all brothers and sisters too
For your sacrifice we honor you!
So as you approach those gates of pearl
Raise your flag let your colors unfurl
Those who guard will open the gates wide
And say welcome it is safe inside!
